CREDIT OR NO CREDIT

On May 12, 2020, the Las Virgenes Unified School Board passed a resolution related to grading for the Spring 2020 semester. As it relates to secondary schools, the Board Resolution states:

Secondary students, in grades 6-12, shall earn letter grades for the spring 2020 semester. Grades shall be calculated in a manner that reflects student achievement and learning throughout the whole course.

"Credit"/ "No Credit" Option: Students and their parents/guardians in grades 6-12 shall be given the opportunity to convert a spring 2020 semester course grade of "A" through "D" to a final mark of "Credit." Students and their parents/guardians in grades 6-12 shall also be given the opportunity to convert a spring 2020 semester course grade of "F" to a final mark of "No Credit." This option is available for any or all courses for the spring 2020 semester.

Students and their parents/guardians in grades 6-12 will have from Wednesday, June 10, 2020, to Tuesday, June 30, 2020, to make the selection to convert any or all spring 2020 semester course grades to a final mark of "Credit" or ''No Credit."

Per this Board Resolution, LVUSD has developed a process for requesting the conversion of grades to Credit/No Credit. The requests will be submitted through the Aeries student account. Once logged in, students will see a list of their Spring 2020 courses with grades. Students will be able to select their final grades and save them. The weighted GPA for the semester will recalculate automatically, based on student grade selections.

Final grade selection for students will be available on June 10th at 3:00pm for seniors and June 12th at 3:00pm for grades 6-11. Directions for this process can be found at https://www.lvusd.org/grades.

Special Note for Seniors:

We will be finalizing Spring semester transcripts to send to Colleges and Universities the week of June 15th. To ensure that those transcripts are accurate, we are asking that all seniors who need transcripts sent to Colleges and Universities complete their grade requests in Aeries by Sunday, June 14th.

Special Note for Student Athletes:

The NCAA has released information and guidance related to how Credit/No Credit will impact GPA determination related to NCAA athletic eligibility. Essentially, a Credit/No Credit would be assigned an equivalent GPA of 2.300 UNLESS it would decrease the student’s overall GPA. It is important to note that the LVUSD Aeries tool does NOT take this NCAA provision into account when calculating GPA.
