Distance Learning Begins on Wednesday 3/17

Distance learning begins 3/18/20. We will loosely follow our regular bell schedule with teachers available to students during their regularly scheduled class period. You can download a copy of our Spring schedule here.

Teachers are using a variety of online tools to support student learning, including Google Classroom, Google Meets, and Zoom to name a few. If there are issues with access to technology or Internet connectivity, please let your teachers know and school or district staff will reach out to you to provide support. Any family that does not currently have internet at home is eligible to get free internet from Spectrum for 3 months with no startup costs. Simply call Spectrum directly at 844-488-8395 and let the rep know that they are part of LVUSD.

It is important that our students and staff stay connected to their learning and to each other to the greatest degree possible. We understand that the learning curve and comfort level related to distance learning can be challenging for both teachers and students. Please be patient as we move forward. It won’t be perfect or seamless, so expect some glitches and challenges with communication. Know that our faculty, staff, and administration will be working diligently to address needs and concerns as they arise. We have created an online form where students, parents, staff, and faculty can submit questions, concerns, and suggestions. We will review those questions throughout the day and post answers or reach out to provide support as quickly as possible. You can access those forms from the News section on our web page.

I have been genuinely impressed with how responsive and positive our faculty and district office staff has been in preparing for and making this shift to distance learning to support our students. It is a testament to the values of this district that we have prioritized student learning and connectedness. I will provide regular updates via phone and email. I am working with our PFC to create some virtual “coffee with the principal” opportunities for parents in the next week or so, so stay tuned for more information on that soon.
