LVUSD Update: Extended Distance Learning March 20, 2020

Dear LVUSD Parents,

As I shared in my video message yesterday, LVUSD continues in its commitment to you and the learning, connection, and well-being of your students.

In accordance with this approach, as well as the recommendations from state and local authorities, LVUSD is officially extending our distance learning until Friday, May 1st with the hope of a possible return to school on Monday, May 4th.  The current modeling of COVID-19 suggests that we need to plan for potential distance learning even beyond that date, but the situation is evolving quickly and we want to be prudent in our monitoring and dismissal decisions.  I will continue to send you updates and keep you informed on the latest information.

For the coming weeks, we look forward to continuing to support you and your children with distance learning.  The LVUSD Board of Education and all of us are grateful to our staff who have been called in to serve meals to families, provide technology for students and staff, keep our facilities safe, and our employees paid during this difficult time.  They are the glue that is holding the Las Virgenes community together during a very challenging time.

For additional information on LVUSD distance learning, please see the following FAQ document: LVUSD Distance Learning FAQs.  These documents can help answer any questions that you might have as we continue to navigate these rapidly changing circumstances together.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, kind words, and support over the past week and in the days to come.

I wish you a healthy and safe weekend.

Dr. Dan Stepenosky
Superintendent of Schools
Las Virgenes Unified School District
