Dr. Rose Dunn Named ACSA 2018 Negotiator of the Year

The Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) is proud to announce that Rose Dunn, Ed. D., Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, has been named as the 2018 Association of California School Administrators' (ACSA) Negotiator of the Year.

Dr. Dunn will be honored at the ACSA Negotiator’s Symposium on January 23 in San Diego, CA. ACSA is a membership group of more than 17,000 school leaders in California whose top priority is advocating for public school students in grades K- 12, as well as adult learners. One of ACSA's priorities is to ensure that school leaders are recognized for their excellence, achievements, and dedication to public education.

Rose Negotiator of the Year

Dr. Dunn joined the Las Virgenes Unified School District as a teacher in 1990. She immediately stepped into a leadership role as the president of the 600 member teachers’ union, where she worked tirelessly in support of her colleagues and began to hone her exceptional negotiation skills. She quickly advanced to become an elementary school assistant principal, principal, and in 2007, Dr. Dunn joined the leadership team as the Director of Elementary and Alternative Education. In 2012,     Dr. Dunn became the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, and since that time, has also served as Chief Negotiator for the entire Las Virgenes Unified School District. 

Dr. Dunn’s ability to lead with kindness, understanding, directness, and transparency has earned her great respect by colleagues on both sides of the negotiating table. Her business acumen and ability to synthesize, reframe, and communicate budget data effectively has enabled the District to weather multiple financial challenges over the past seven years, including during the Great Recession and the state’s transition to the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).
