Important Message - March 13, 2020
Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and kindness as we enter this uncharted territory together. After extensive conversations with the Board of Education and state and local health officials during the past 24 hours, we have made the decision, out of an abundance of caution, and concern for the health and well-being of our students, staff, and our entire broader community, to close our school facilities for a minimum of two weeks beginning Monday, March 16 and lasting through through March 27th.
As we had previously planned, distance activities for students will begin on Wednesday, March 18th. Your child’s teacher will be connecting with you and/or your student next week and through the coming weeks about activities planned during this time of in class disruption. Our teachers used their classroom time with students today to lay the groundwork for distance learning and the investments we have made as a district over the past 5 years to advance technology into the classroom have proven immensely valuable as we transition to online engagement.
Please take good care and be well over the coming days. There will be a lot more news in the coming days and we will continue to communicate with you as this situation changes and evolves.
My team will provide an update on Counseling Support Services in a message that will follow. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher, principal, or me directly. We are all in this together and I am confident that with our resolve, your support, and everyone’s collaborative efforts will see us through this tough time.
Be well and take care,
Dr. Dan Stepenosky
Superintendent of Schools
Las Virgenes Unified School District
