During the week of November 18-22, we will have minimum days for scheduled parent/teacher conferences. Dismissal times that week for Journeys/Kindergarten will be at 11:30am, and grades 1-5 at 12:16pm, Monday through Friday.
Here are some tips for successful parent/teacher conferences:
Ask your child if there is anything that he/she would like you to discuss and write it down.
Bring this list and anything else you would like to talk about to the conference.
Sample questions parents often ask are:
What are the main concepts my child is learning this year?
What can I do at home to help my child be more successful at school?
What are my child’s strengths and areas for improvement?
How is my child developing socially and emotionally?
Arrive promptly or a few minutes early.
Avoid lengthy discussions of topics that are not related to the purpose of the conference.
Be open-minded to suggestions from the teacher.
Express appreciation for the conference.
If needed, schedule a follow-up conference/phone call with the teacher to monitor progress.
