Here are a few reminders for this week. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in these matters.
Unless it is an emergency, please do not call the office during the school day to notify us that your child has a change in dismissal plans. We'd like to minimize the number of times our office staff has to disrupt the classroom learning environment via intercom and phone calls. Your child's dismissal plans should be communicated prior to 7:30 am with your child's teacher via email or Parent Square preferably. Teachers do not always check messages after 8:00 am, as they are instructing students.
There have been an abundance of illnesses affecting our community this winter. Thank you to those parents who report your child's absence due to illness via phone and/or email (preferred). We track all absences, and your notifications help greatly.
Please make sure your child is at school when they are healthy. Last year, our attendance rate was better than the prior year, but we still missed being a California Distinguished School due to the number of students who were absent 18 or more days during the school year. Children learn more and feel more connected to their classroom community when they are at school.
Sincerely, Laura Kintz, Principal
