Dear Sumac Families:

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am honored to serve as your principal and am excited to work with you to ensure that we have a spectacular school year ahead. 

This is my 18th year in public education, and I love what I do! I believe in finding joy, offering gratitude, and providing space for people to be their best. The Sumac community brings out the best in everyone. I double majored in Political Science and Spanish at what is not California Polytechnic University, Humboldt. I earned my master's in Educational Leadership from CSUCI and wrote my thesis on the benefits of academic vocabulary across school settings.

Here are some exciting highlights for the 2022-23 school year:

• The school year includes three additional school days, formerly staff professional development. These dates are October 10, January 30, and March 20.

• Complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students, regardless of income levels, during the upcoming school year. Parents are strongly encouraged to complete the online Eligibility Application. 

• Additional campus supervisor hours.

• Enclosed campus

• Full-time Counselor.

• Full-time Media Center Coordinator in our library.

• Visual Arts Teacher.

• Music Teacher.

• P.E. Teacher five days a week (Funded by PFA).

I am an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), for which I serve as the Elementary Principal representative. In addition, I am an active member of the California Association of Bilingual Education. I enjoy camping with my family, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, adventuring the California backcountry, reading, and cooking. I look forward to another terrific year of learning, social development, and fun. I am thrilled to welcome you daily and offer our community a place to grow and explore.
