As we all look forward to the end-of-year events, we urge everyone to take extra precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Over the last two weeks, we are seeing an increase in the number of cases in our schools, county, and state. Here are a few important COVID-19 safety reminders:
- Watch for COVID-19 symptoms: nasal congestion, runny nose, headaches, sore throat cough, fatigue, body aches
- Students who experience any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should stay home and test.
- Our health services staff have observed that symptomatic individuals are testing positive within a few days after the onset of symptoms. We encourage those with ongoing or worsening symptoms to test more than once and remain home until viral symptoms resolve.
- If your student has a negative COVID-19 test, is fever-free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are resolving, they can return to school.
- Masking remains an effective mitigation measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If a classroom has an increase in COVID-19 cases, LACDPH recommends and may even require masking and testing to prevent further spread.
We continue to have biweekly PCR testing available on Monday and Thursday at the district office. If you would like to schedule an appointment with IHD, please use the registration link. Additionally, we have home test kits available for our families and staff. If you are in need of home tests, please contact our health office or sesattendance@lvusd.org. |
