“Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Earlier this week I shared that three bullets had been found on the blacktop area of our playground. Through collaboration with Lost Hills and the district office, we believe we have identified the source of the bullets and have determined there was and is no threat to our campuses. We appreciate the whole community for continuing to encourage students that if they see something, they should say something. I am so appreciative of our whole-community approach to keeping our students healthy and safe.
From the middle of September to the middle of October we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month when our guiding question is how do I value the differences in our community? Each month we also focus on a particular social-emotional concept. October is:
Bullying Prevention Month
Focus on the concept of Mindfulness
Our guiding question is how am I aware of my impact?
We are also excited to announce that we can now hold our weekly morning assemblies again, although still just for students. We are going to move them to Wednesday mornings and hold them in our grade levels bands of grades TK - 2 and grades 3 - 5, outdoors, spaced out, and with masks. Wednesdays will also be an additional themed spirit say. Our first one for next Wednesday will be sports day. Please encourage your child to wear their favorite sports fan gear or sportswear. No cleats or swimwear, please.
One last reminder: Wednesdays we only have supervision for hot lunch until 12:45 pm. Please make sure to collect your child(ren) at 12:45 pm if they are staying to eat hot lunch.
Take care and be well,

There is no better feeling than the start of a new month. Starting new and starting fresh makes a great impact on our mental wellbeing. That being said, October brings a new school focus on Mindfulness. Why teach mindfulness to children? When we teach mindfulness to our children, we set them up with the tools to cope with stress, increase focus and relate to uncomfortable/ challenging moments. Practicing mindfulness can be really simple, here is one easy way to start.
Stop and be aware of your surroundings. Whenever you find yourself waiting with a spare moment— in the grocery checkout line, or walking to your car—pause, tune into the five senses, and share what you notice with your child.
Each month the classes will have a chance to win the Golden Coach’s Award, this month was for the fastest class challenge.
Congrats to our 2nd-3rd grade class winner- Ms. Gants class
Congrats to our 4th-5th grade class winner- Mrs. Birkett’s class
