Welcome Back Cougars!

Dear Lindero Canyon Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year.  I would like to introduce myself to you as the proud principal at Lindero Canyon Middle School.  In my 20-year career in LVUSD, this is my third assignment at LCMS. I have also spent time away from LCMS serving in teaching and administration roles at the elementary school and high school levels.  While I have enjoyed all my experiences in education, none keeps me as motivated and engaged as working with middle school students right here at LCMS.

I am fortunate to have launched my teaching career at LCMS teaching some of the most amazing special education students anyone could ever meet.  Those students taught me so many of the values that we still embrace at LCMS including empathy, inclusion, relationships, and optimism.

Over the past two decades, we have seen the needs of students evolve.  The experiences that our current students have had over the past 36 months is significantly different than any in years past.  In response, we have invested significant resources in meeting the needs of our students, and we have never had as many supports in place.

Our modern and beautiful campus has planted 50 new trees in the past two years, we have invested in updating our novel selection in our state of the art media center, we have invested in a Wellness Counselor who has created an entirely new wellness center for students to utilize, and we launched a new position called a “Success Coach,” a certificated teacher who works closely with counseling and administrators to serve students, building relationships with students and coaching them to meet their maximum potential.

LCMS has achieved every major academic award of the past 30 years, and we continue our tradition of rigor and academic excellence.  However, more than ever, we are mindful of the physical and mental well-being of our students and staff, and we strive to achieve a sensible school/life balance for our students and community.

Lindero Canyon is an amazing place for students, and we will continue to fine tune our offerings and practices to meet their evolving needs.  I welcome your comments and suggestions, so please feel free to reach out to me if there is anything I can do to help.

Let’s make it a great year.  Go Cougars!

Mr. Eric Anhalt
