A.C. Stelle PFC Meeting, November 8, 2017--8:40 a.m.

I. Call to Order, Approval of Minutes Lisa Steinmetz

II. President’s Welcome & Information from Principal Report Julee Gould
Introduction to first guest speaker, Abby from the Coffee Bean, discussing support for
AC Stelle through providing food, meeting rooms and catering of events and PFC meetings.
Introduction of guest speakers Melody Black & Daniel Veselask from the Ludington Institute.
The Ludington Institute is a counseling service for family enrichment. At today’s meeting they
discussed how to help teens and parents with the impacts of social media. In addition,
monitoring what children and teens are connected to on social media, as well as the impact it has
on them. The points made were: Staying connected to your child’s activity, monitoring all
on line programs, parent-child communication, being involved daily with your child’s activity
and setting boundaries for your child.
Their presentation also included the many forms of social media to create awareness for the parents.

III. Treasurer’s Report Karen Clifton
Audit on October 18th at 8:30am went great all books in order and transparent.
Recent invoice were approved. Supplies have been bought for Robotics,
The board allocated $5,000.00 for ASB

IV. Committee Reports
A. Directory Theresa Lem
The directory is now available and should have been sent home with your student.

B. StepItUp Cindy Mays/Vilma Yacoob
Raised over $55,000
The Step It Up Event is on Friday, November 17th. The event is done as a carnival.
The Monster Bus is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29th

C. Newsletter Jason Sperling/Leah Tzour
Sign up for connecting with AC Steele via Facebook and the newsletter.

D. Volunteers Stacey Kolinsky/Julie Tesser
We need Volunteers for the Teachers Staff Lunch on December 6th. A signup will be sent out for volunteering for the event.
Gifts will be given to the teachers at event

E. Community Partnerships Julee Gould
Cyclebar Spinning Studio fundraiser in Thousand Oaks will be on January 31st at either 10am session or the 4pm session
The Stand Restaurant fundraiser on March 28th for the” kickoff of the color run.”

Julie Tesser’s birthday announced
Discussions were had about the possibility of the PFC to changed to a PTA. The DO is recommending this change as a way to help support and guide these groups.
Guest speaker Abby from the Coffee Bean to talk on November 8th about programs to support A.C. Stelle.
In addition we will be discussing social media and its impact on students with
Melody Black & Daniel Veselak from the Ludington Institute at next meeting.
The Shake out was a success.
The campus tours have begun.
The Catalina trip went well.

III. Treasurer’s Report Karen Clifton
Audit on October 18th at 8:30am went great all books in order.
Recent invoice were approved. Supplies have been bought for Robotics, Leadership and new student luncheon
Currently the donor drive is 11-12K below what we budgeted.
The board allocated $5,000.00 for ASB

The party on October 27th was a big success.

Raised over $55,000
The Step It Up Event is on November 17th.
The Monster Bus is scheduled for November 29th

An important request made by Leah that we need more input for the upcoming newsletter.

V. New Business and Items Not On Agenda
A more in-depth discussion on the possibility of changing the PFC to PTA
The pros and cons of switching and a possible pilot program being launched a detailed sheet distributed to PFC members.
In addition we further discussed looking in to a laddered CD at Fidelity Investments FDIC Insured.

A.C. STELLE PFC MEETING
10/11/17-8:30AM


I. Call to order, Approval of September Minutes Lisa Steinmetz

II. President’s Welcome Julee Gould


-Night meeting for parents March 13th. The 7th Grade Party date is on April 27th.
-The Boys and Girls Club will have Club Bake Sale for the Hurricane in Texas.
-West Coast Valley Soccer will sponsor intramural Uniforms T-Shirts.
-Walk to School Day was a big success, yellow recyclable hat given to walking students.
-The PSAT will take place on October 11, 2017. Discussion took place on the pros and cons of 8th graders taking the PSAT at this time. Principal Emery said he would take these concerns under consideration for next year. Miss Scheppers offered to show the board the parent letter to review before it went out to the families.
-The Great California Shake Out for Earthquake Preparedness is on October 19th at 10:19am

III. Treasurer Report Karen Clifton


-Karen requested to decrease $50,000K Technology reserves to $25,000 and be moved to teachers’ salaries. Motion by Julie Shpall Seconded by Lisa Steinmetz. Vote was passed and approved
-Audit October 18th Volunteers were discussed and chosen

VI. Committee Reports

A. Donor Drive
Thank you report sent out in October and November newsletter
Clarification of the $500 level was discussed and how it includes participation for StepItUp pig races in each class

B. Directory
The contest cover winner will be announced soon for the directory printed soon. Distribution will take place at the end of the month

C. Sixth Grade Party will take place on October 27th. Stephanie Cohen
SignUp genius was distributed Kara Bilkiss, Nikki Friedman

D. Step It Up Vilma Yacoob, Cindy Mays
To date fundraiser has raised over $85,000K. Commencing on
Friday, October 13th. Monster Bus Tour November 13th. StepITUP final event 11/28

A discussion of posting the donors names on Facebook was vetos because it is to difficult to post. Instead, names were listed in the monthly Newsletter.

F. Advertising
As of date $5,000 has been raised. Thank you Lisa Oplion

A.C Stelle PFC Meeting

8/23/17–8:30 a.m.

 

I. Ms. Scheppers was introduced, the new assistant principal.

II. Mr. Emery discussed the “whole child” concept.

  1. We need to look at the social, emotional and academic aspect of each child.
  2. Our assessment scores looked good showing growth from the prior year. 
  3. 68% proficient in Math and 77%proficent in language arts.

III. Mrs. Wigger presented a quick overview of Google Classroom for the parents.

  1. You can access Google classroom through each teacher’s website.

IV. PFC

  1. Our next PFC general meeting will we Wednesday Sept 13 in the faculty lounge.
  2. Introduction of PFC Board members
  3. Please visit our PFC website and Facebook page
  4. Tami Hathaway and Dana Bergman, our PFC Donor drive chairs, discussed opportunities to donate
  5. through Pay4school.com.
  6. Donations help fund Intramural sports, music, computers, robotics programs, our Media Center to name a few.

Meeting called to order at 10:10 AM. Approval of Minutes for the end of the school year approved by Stacey Kolinsky and Julie Shpall.
Welcome new and returning members to the Board
Welcome to our new VP Niki Scheppers.

II. Principal’s Welcome and Report Julee Gould
ACS Updates, Registration make-up Aug 21 & 22. Our next PFC general meeting/Welcome Coffee will be held the first day of school, Wed. 23 at 8:30AM. Come meet our new Vice Principal and have breakfast!
ACS is fully staffed and we have another counselor. Monday, Aug. 21 is welcome breakfast for the ACS staff at 8:00AM. Please be sure to fill out the Google form on Aries.

Update and Approval of 2017-18 Budget. Moved to remove Hospitality from the 2017-2018 budget. Dana Moraly motioned, Julie Shpall 2nd.

A. Donor Drive Melissa Alpert/Dana Bergman/Tami Hathaway
+Update and new program MySchoolAnywhere proposal for a database to store directory information, and tract donation information. Other schools in our district use this program including Agoura HS, We’ll still have directory and magnets for people who donate to the annual drive. $500 annual fee for PFC. Vote, Julie Shpall motioned and Dana Moraly 2nd.
