    CLUB NEWS: The Karaoke club will meet today in E114. Plus, there are two new clubs starting up this week. The Fencing club will meet with Mr. Espinoza in the MPR today, and the Skateboarding club will meet with Mr. Espinoza in the MPR tomorrow.

    ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Tomorrow is our next homeroom contest. It’s Class Spirit and Color Day. Wear your spirit wear or class colors; red for 8th grade; black for 7th and white for 6th.  This is an easy way to help your homeroom earn that beach trip in May!

    ALSO, STUDENTS: Lunch time football is starting soon! Sign-ups will be today, tomorrow and Monday. Games will start soon. Sign up on the MPR stage during lunch.

    FINALLY, STUDENTS: If you have any pictures of yourself in your Halloween costume, we may be able to use them in the yearbook. Please email them to Ms. Case at mcase@lvusd.org.

    DID YOU KNOW: Today is World Kindness Day! On World Kindness Day, let your compassion shine brightly.  Get caught showing as much kindness as possible. Whether it’s a friend, family member or stranger, our ability to show our humanity should have no limit.

    ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: All this week we are celebrating the drug-free life with Red Ribbon Week. Today, we give drugs the boot in your western gear – hats, flannels, boots, bandanas and jeans. Join us at the stage at nutrition for the Stomp Out Drugs Balloon Stomp.  Then tomorrow, “Say BOO to Drugs!” Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume to school, but you must make sure your costume is in line with the A. C. Stelle dress code. Friday is our next homeroom contest – in honor of our last day of Red Ribbon Week, show your commitment to staying drug free by wearing red. Then at lunch, join us at the stage for our annual Pig Races! Come out and cheer on your pig!

    CLUB NEWS: The Ballroom Dancing club will meet today in the gym; there is a new club starting up next week – on Mondays, the Dungeons and Dragons club will meet in the choir room.

    ATTENTION 8th GRADERS: Tomorrow, you will be taking the PSAT.  You should have received a packet of information last week telling you in what classroom you will be testing. On Wednesday morning when the first bell rings, you will report to your testing classroom, not your usual homeroom.  If you aren’t sure where you’re testing, please check in the AP office before Wednesday morning. Periods 5 & 6 will be the usual for all grades.

    ATTENTION 6th & 7th GRADERS: Due to PSAT testing, some of your classes may be held in a different room on Wednesday. Please make sure you’ve made a note of any classroom changes to your schedule.

    DID YOU KNOW: Today is National Color Day! It is hard to imagine the world without color. Color is powerful. It can affect a mood, draw attention and even cause alarm.  Without color, we would be nearly blind; doctors check for health through the color of a patient’s skin; leaves changing from green to vermillion signal a change of seasons; the street light turns from green to yellow to red, letting us know when it’s safe to proceed. All these colors play important roles in the world.

    DID YOU KNOW: Today is National Dictionary Day to commemorate the birthday of Noah Webster. In 1807 Webster began compiling an expanded and fully comprehensive dictionary, An American Dictionary of the English Language; it took twenty-seven years to complete. To evaluate the origin of words, Webster learned twenty-six languages. He published his dictionary in 1828 at the age of seventy; it sold 2500 copies. Celebrate National Dictionary Day by learning some new words, or playing a game of Scrabble or Words with Friends!

This day is only for students who have not had their picture taken at all this year, or have already paid for pictures but want to re-do them.     ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Please remember to remain outside the buildings in the morning before the bell rings. 

    JUST A FEW REMINDERS: Summer break may be over but we’re still in for some warm weather, and we just want to remind you that the A. C. Stelle dress code will be enforced. Shorts and skirts must be longer than your thumb when your arms are at your side; no bra or lingerie straps or bare midriffs should be visible; flip-flops are not allowed, and no clothing with inappropriate graphics or language may be worn to school.

    MEDIA CENTER NEWS: If you misplace your laptop, retrace your steps and ask your teachers to see if you can find it. If you can't find it, please go to the AP's Office because all found laptops are sent there. Sixth graders, you will receive laptops today during your English classes.

    DID YOU MISS REGISTRATION?  If you weren’t here for registration and did not get your picture taken, picture make-ups will be after the Labor Day holiday, on Tuesday, September 3rd during lunch. They will be on the MPR stage. Mark your organizer!

    ATTENTION 7th & 8th GRADERS - HONOR SOCIETY NEWS: Next Tuesday, we will begin the application period for Honor Society membership for 7th & 8th graders, and for the 7th grade Catalina trip and the 8th grade Yosemite trip as well. Listen to the morning announcements next week for further details.

    DID YOU KNOW?? Today is NATIONAL BE AN ANGEL DAY! We are encouraged to do good deeds and show kindness to others. Support those in need and inspire others to kindness. We can all have a bad day. A kind word, given or received, always makes a difference!

    MEDIA CENTER NEWS: The media center is open for business today. You are welcome to come in to check out a book or laptop, or to ask questions. However, we will have to close if the library overfills. Laptop information: if have any problems with your laptop or case, please see Mrs. Anderson in the Media Center as soon as possible. Sixth graders, you will receive laptops Friday during your English classes.
