Director of Education and Leadership
Mr. Gleason began his career teaching science in Scottsdale, Arizona and then later at Dos Pueblos High School, a high-performing public high school in Santa Barbara, CA. He also served there as assistant principal and oversaw curriculum, instruction, counseling, technology, and assessment. Most importantly, he facilitated Dos Pueblos’ transition to the California Content Standards.
Before moving to LVUSD, Mr. Gleason served as an administrator in the Montecito Union School District. There he helped lead professional learning for certificated, classified, and the facilities and maintenance staff. He also coordinated assessments and district data management, and implemented initiatives relating to school culture.
Prior to his tenure at Montecito Union School District, Mr. Gleason served in multiple posts with the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO). He was originally recruited by the SBCEO in 2012 as Director of the Santa Barbara County Teacher Induction Program, responsible for re-imagining and leading the professional development, training, and certification program for beginning teachers and their mentors (BTSA program). More recently, Mr. Gleason served as the Director for Leadership and Support Services where he supervised the Preliminary and Clear Administrative Services Credential Programs. Mr. Gleason was a lead author for the development of new program design frameworks submitted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), and as such, researched, developed, and delivered a diverse array of professional development opportunities and training to aspiring and current administrators. He worked with Program Advisory Boards, Institutes of Higher Learning, the CTC, and superintendents and principals of more than 20 school districts to ensure that programs met accreditation guidelines and individual school/district needs.
Directs and supports the District’s PK-12 educational program. Responsible for the supervision of principals, LCAP, state and federal programs, talent development, English Learners, counseling, and college and career centers. Additionally, Mr. Gleason directs and oversees the LVUSD Center for Educational Excellence. He serves as a member of the District management team and the Superintendent’s cabinet.
