• Welcome to the Agoura High School Counseling Page!!

    UPDATED:  APRIL 27, 2020

    Hello AHS families,

We sincerely miss seeing you in person everyday, and we hope you are all staying safe and healthy through this very unique time.  Counselors have enjoyed seeing students in virtual class meetings, during our office hours on Zoom, and emailing with students and parents while we have been away from campus.  We have compiled a few updates that we feel are important to communicate out to you at this time based on common questions.

    Virtual Meetings

Counselors are holding virtual meetings at your request as well as hosting office hours for students during the school day. If you would like a virtual meeting with your counselor, please email your counselor directly to set that up.

    LVUSD Summer School

For information on the LVUSD summer school, please CLICK HERE.

    Summer School outside of LVUSD

For students to advance or recover credits with outside summer school, you need to find a program that is WASC approved, UC a-g approved, and, if your student is an athlete, it needs to be NCAA approved as well. In the past, we have approved the following summer programs (most are online): Opportunities For Learning (OFL), Vista Real, Mission Academy, The Method Summer School, and more.

Please check that the school you choose is still accredited in the ways stated above. Once you've made your choice, please fill out their referral form (available on their website), fill out our concurrent enrollment form (ATTACHED HERE), and email it to your counselor.  Your counselor will review your request with the administrator and approve/deny the course(s). Once those forms are signed by us, we will email you about the decision. Please allow at least 72 hours for the approval process. A maximum of 10 units is allowed for summer school.

    Seniors Requesting Final Transcripts

Seniors will need to send a final transcript to the college they are attending in the Fall. The final transcripts will be sent out the week of June 15. Please CLICK HERE to submit your transcript request. This link will also be on the AHS website.

    Service Learning

Service Learning is an LVUSD graduation requirement. Any changes to the service learning hours requires a board approval, which is in process. This is why it has taken time to get information out to you. We will communicate out to you as soon as an official decision has been made. In the meantime, if you want to submit hours, you can do so by emailing our Service Learning Coordinator, Ms. Diament, at sdiament@lvusd.org. She can answer any Service Learning related questions that you have.

    PFC Updates:

Each week, the Agoura High School PFC hosts a Virtual Coffee with AHS Administrators to share information about the distance learning successes and improvements needed.  The meetings are held on Wednesdays at 9:00 am and again at 5:30 pm through Zoom, and are a great resource to learn updates about Agoura High School as well as within LVUSD, and to ask any questions you have.

As always, we appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate this uncharted territory.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

    Take care,

    Your AHS Counseling Team

    UPDATE:  March 17, 2020

    Hello AHS families,

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy through this very unique time.  We have compiled a few key items that we feel are important to communicate out to you at this time.  Keep in mind that as things evolve, and questions continue to come in, things may change, and we will continue to communicate with you.

    Virtual Meeting Request

If you would like a virtual meeting with your counselor, please email your counselor with a few options of your availability (ex: I’m available Wednesday between 1:00-3:00pm, and Thursday between 8:00-10:30am), and we will send you a link for the meeting with a time that works for both parties.

    Course Requests for Next Year

Your AHS counselors met with most 9-11th grade students over the last month.  If you were not met with for any reason, please reach out to your counselor (via email) to confirm the courses you wish to take.  If you would like to make a change to your original request, email your counselor your desired changes.

    Summer School

For students to advance or recover credits with outside summer school, you need to find a program that is WASC approved, UC a-g approved, and if your student is an athlete, it needs to be NCAA approved as well. In the past, we have approved the following summer programs (most are online): Opportunities For Learning (OFL), Vista Real, Mission Academy, The Method Summer School

Please check that the school you choose is still accredited in the ways stated above. Once you've made your choice, please fill out their referral form (available on their website), fill out our concurrent enrollment form (attached or link here), and email it to your counselor.  Your counselor will review your request with the administrator and approve/deny the course(s). Once those forms are signed by us, we will email you about the decision. Please allow at least 72 hours for the approval process. Normally we would have you come pick up the signed forms and deliver them to your summer school institution.  During this time, we’ll email you an approval. A maximum of 10 units is allowed for summer school.

    Seniors Requesting Mid-Year Transcripts

If you need your mid-year transcript (and supporting mid-year documents) to be sent to your college, please email your counselor to let them know.  We will be working remotely and can send documents electronically through Naviance.

    LVUSD Counseling 360 Resources

The Community 360 Counseling Center will be offering 20 minute virtual appointments to staff, students, and parents who might need someone to talk to as we enter the coming weeks. If you'd like to book an appointment, go to Community360.me and click "Book an Appointment". This will set up a calendar time for a virtual check-in via Zoom.

    Counseling

Agoura High School students are served by five full time counselors.  All counselors hold California Pupil Personnel Services Credentials and Master's Degrees.

This team is an integral and vital component in the development of the academic and personal goals of all students. They plan, implement and evaluate a counseling program that includes academic, career, personal and social development for all students. They work with parents, teachers and staff to advocate for high academic achievement and appropriate social development for each student.

In direct alignment with the National Standards for School Counseling, the team employs effective strategies to foster:

    1. proficient and discriminating learners
    2. creative, critical thinkers
    3. responsible, productive and ethical citizens.

Additionally, the Counseling Team strives to work with students, parents and other staff to facilitate transitions throughout the high school years. Counselors encourage students to be independent, to effectively communicate their needs, and make decisions that will prepare them to be productive and successful in their chosen academic and career paths.  When life situations interfere with a student's pursuit of his or her academic and personal goals, it may be helpful for the student to talk with their school counselor .
