Robin Frank is OUR reading specialist and ELD teacher. She is intelligent, kind, supportive, always positive, and a leader. She has helped thousands of students learn to read. She is a leader in supporting English Learner and intervention services in LVUSD. Frank began her career in 1995 as a bilingual Kindergarten teacher and has served as an English Language Development teacher and Reading Intervention Specialist. She was an important advocate for initiating OUR Dual Immersion Taskforce, securing a specific Dual ELA program adoption, and for obtaining and implementing intervention materials. Upon the announcement of the employees of the year, Stepenosky remarked “They are all tremendous educational leaders. Their dedication, passion, and leadership are phenomenal.”
Ms. Hernandez, Sumac's very own full time school counselor, delivers informative and engaging lessons to students in every grade. Last week and this coming week, Ms. Hernandez reviews with students who she is, her role, and how she can help. She also reviews when students may need help from the counselor and how to ask a teacher to plan a visit. Parents can seek help from the counselor as well. Remember Ms. Hernandez is here to help! We are grateful to have such a talented and enthusiastic educator on our support team.
