As our community navigates the coming days going into the Thanksgiving holiday, we’ve identified resources related to supporting staff and families and possible reactions to the wildfires and the trauma of this past week. Please visit the Community360 Website (read more for link) for resources curated by our staff and partners at Ludington, Engage, and Give an Hour. Throughout the coming days, we’ll continue to update this page with support resources.
We are diligently working to make sure our schools are safe, clean and ready for our students to return. Given the extent of the work that needs to be completed, we will need to close all schools in the Las Virgenes Unified School District until after the Thanksgiving Holiday. We anticipate reopening school on the morning of November 26th. In addition, all events, meetings, and personnel testing at the District Office for the week of November 12th have been cancelled.
The Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools would like to help the families in our LVUSD district who have lost their homes. Here are the ways you can help:
Dear Staff and Parents, I pray and hope you and your families are safe and well. I've just been able to get back into the district to start checking on schools. We have many more questions than answers at this point. I know we'll need to help each other as we discover the devastation of this fire on our community. We'll continue to communicate with LA County Fire and the Sheriff's Department as we determine our next steps. We're so thankful for their dedication and amazing work in keeping us safe. District leadership is meeting today...
We have several job openings in LVUSD! Click here to find meaningful work that support our students. Full time or part time, for educators and support staff - excellent healthcare and retirement benefits offered.
The Mission of the Las Virgenes Unified School District is to ensure that all programs are dedicated toward enhancing student achievement and that each school is a humanistic organization, valuing students emotionally and academically, providing the highest quality education possible in a personalized environment. We aspire to enable each student to realize maximum potential as a responsible citizen who will enhance the community and society.
