Las Virgenes Unified School District Permits

Permits provide alternatives for parents who do not wish to send their children to the local public schools to which they are assigned. If a school is not filled to its capacity with existing students and incoming neighborhood students, students living outside the neighborhood boundaries of a school may apply to that school through an application process.  Schools may accept students until they are filled to capacity.

The priority deadline for the next school year is from November 21, 2022 to February 1, 2023 for School of Choice and from November 21, 2022 to March 1st, 2023 for Interdistrict Permits.  Interdistrict Requests received after the March 1st deadline will be reviewed and/or processed on a case-by-case basis.

There are three types of permits offered:

School of Choice Permits: This permit is for families who reside within LVUSD borders and current students who would like to attend a different LVUSD school. This includes students who live outside the district and were previously released from their home district in a prior year and have been permitted to attend LVUSD.

Incoming Interdistrict Permits: This permit is for families who reside outside of LVUSD boundaries and wish for their student(s) to attend a LVUSD school. After a family is approved for a permit by LVUSD, they must also obtain a release from their district of residence to complete enrollment.

Outgoing Interdistrict Permits: This permit is for families who reside within LVUSD boundaries and wish to attend a school outside of the Las Virgenes Unified School District.
