Dear LVUSD Families, We hope this message finds you healthy and well, and that you are finding time to enjoy the summer. I want to share our plans for the reopening of schools in the fall. Our challenge has been to meet the needs of both health and education, and to find the best balance between the two. Thank you in advance for your understanding, kindness, and continued support as we move forward.
While we work hard to prepare for a very different start to the school year in August, we also are inspired by the mass of peaceful protests that have risen up in response to the overt racism and recent deaths at the hands of police. Our hearts break at the loss of life and the anguish of impacted Black families across our country. There is an opportunity for reflection, introspection, and listening, that if approached with humility, can lead to growth, improvement, and real change.
LVUSD is pleased to announce the LVUSD@Home Virtual Learning Academy for the 2020-21 school year. The Virtual Learning Academy brings the prestigious LVUSD learning experience into the home so that students can learn, grow and connect. The program is an option for our students in grades K-12.
Because schools are closed due to COVID-19, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals can get up to $365 in food benefits in addition to their pick up meals from school. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT. More information can be found here: https://ca.p-ebt.org/en/info. The application can be found here: https://ca.p-ebt.org/en/

With the Governor’s guidelines compelling individuals to have their faces covered in public/when around people, our community has a high demand for face coverings. We need you! It’s essential that we mobilize our sewing community to donate and support the increasing demand for face coverings for critical LVUSD staff who are feeding families, as well as local essential workers. If you have fabric and elastic and are interested in learning to make masks to donate go to Community360.me/support and share your email address. A member of our team will reach out to you with further instructions and can even teach you how to make a mask if you need help. We are also taking fabric and elastic donations to help this effort. You’ll also notice on this site that there is an opportunity to have your students and family members upload pictures, letters, and uplifting messages. Local hospitals have requested these for posting in their hallways to lift the spirits of our heroic healthcare workers on the front lines.
Dear Parents, We are continually updating and adding new resources to our Parent Resources for Online Learning, and have decided to move them to a new easier-to-use site. There you will find resources organized by grade level and topic in a simpler format. To view the new site, you may go to the Parent menu above and select Parent Resources for Online Learning
