As your new principal, I wanted to share a little background information as we get to know each other in this new role. I began my career in Northern California as an English teacher at the high school level. I moved down to Southern California where I continued to teach English at the high school level in the PVPUSD school district. My husband’s job relocated us to Missouri for three years, where I earned my Administrative Masters and when we were relocated back to California I found myself at Calabasas where I have been for the last three years acting as your Assistant Principal. This year, I am honored to transition into my new role as Principal and to continue working with the Calabasas Community. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA in English and a Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.

I am married to a wonderfully supportive husband, and we have three children (an 8-year-old daughter Claire, a 5-year-old son Andrew, and a 3-year-old son James) and one 12-year-old Beagle, Lucy. To say my life is loud and crazy is an understatement, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am delighted to continue serving the families, faculty, and staff of my alma mater, Calabasas High School. Last year was such a great year as Dean of Students, and this year I am deeply honored to now be the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at CHS. After attending LVUSD schools from K-12, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a Minor in Communications, from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!). Afterward, I attended Pepperdine University, where I earned a Masters of Education with an Emphasis in Instructional Leadership. While attending Pepperdine, I taught general education classes, but quickly realized my passion for special education, which was then confirmed upon joining the LVUSD family in 2007. I taught special education for 10 years, transitioned to the role of a case manager for our moderate/severe population, and then joined the CHS administrative team in 2019.

When I’m not at work, I spend most (all) of my time with my three children. My oldest son, Jackson is entering first grade at Chaparral Elementary, and he will be joined by his twin siblings (Conor and Emma), as they begin their LVUSD journey in TK at Chaparral, too! During quarantine, our family, along with our 17-year-old dog, enjoy hiking, swimming, and going to the beach. Needless to say, once quarantine is over, I look forward to weekends filled with soccer, basketball, dance, gymnastics and music classes!

I am excited to be your Assistant Principal! Prior to becoming your administrator, I taught chemistry and biology at El Segundo High School and right here at CHS! I grew up in Camarillo and went to UC Davis where I earned a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Environmental Policy. While at Davis I discovered my passion for education and earned my teaching credential from Cal State Channel Islands. While teaching in the classroom I began taking on more interests in leadership roles and decided to move into administration. Last year I had a blast being able to work with our students to plan school dances, rallies, and senior events. I look forward to creating opportunities for our students in this new school setting.

I grew up riding horses, and rode show-jumping horses professionally for a bit before teaching, so when I have free time I am always at the barn. My favorite way to spend my summer is traveling with my husband to new places like Bali and Vietnam. My husband prefers locations that have great surf spots and my preference is to visit places with incredible animals. Highlights have included 20 feet manta rays, mischievous monkeys, tricky octopus, and my all-time favorite... ELEPHANTS! Although we were unable to travel this summer, we have been gearing up for our newest adventure: Parenthood! We are very excited to welcome a baby girl this December!

I am excited to join the Coyote family as your new Assistant Principal for Safety, Facilities, and Athletics. Prior to coming to Calabasas, I was the sole Assistant Principal at El Segundo High School for the last five years. Before moving to the South Bay, I worked in the Scottsdale Unified School District in Scottsdale, Arizona for 16 years. I was an elementary teacher for seven years and a high school Assistant Principal for nine years. For five of the years, I was the AP and Athletic Director. I am a graduate of the University of Washington where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and American Ethnic Studies. I earned both my Master's in Elementary Education and Doctorate in Educational Administration & Supervision from Arizona State University. As part of my Doctoral degree requirements, I completed a Global Education program at the University of London. My dissertation examined the underrepresentation of minority students in gifted programs at the elementary level.

On a personal note, I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona where I played softball and ran track. I am the proud mother of one son, Jordan, who played basketball and football. He is also a graduate of Arizona State University. We are avid sports fans and I cannot wait to cheer on all of the Coyote student-athletes when athletics resume. In addition to sports, I love music, movies, and vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico every summer.

The Administrative Office is located around the corner from the Main Office and is the first door on the right before the Health Office.  This is the office where you can drop things off for your student if they forgot them, however, we do not accept FOOD.
