Las Virgenes High Schools Among the Best in the Nation

Both of the Las Virgenes Unified School District’s comprehensive high schools, Agoura High School and Calabasas High School, were named among the top high schools in the nation in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings.  Both schools received silver distinction placing them in the top ten percent of the nation’s public schools.  Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donald Zimring stated, “This is a tremendous accomplishment especially in light of the budgetary challenges we have faced over the past three years.  It is testimony to the skill and dedication of our teaching staff, the support of our
parents, and the commitment of our students to make Las Virgenes a great place for kids”.

School Board President Cindy Iser echoed those feelings and stated, "Our high schools are two of the best in the nation, not only because of their rigorous academics, which are reflected by their impressive  rankings in U.S. News & World Report, but also because they are supportive environments which encourage our students to find their passion in life by providing opportunities in areas such as the arts, community service, sports, and leadership".

The rankings are determined by a variety of datasets for high schools throughout the nation including the number of advanced placement tests taken, the demographics of the school, as well as the school’s API scores.
