Submit college and financial aid applications

You may get applications by going online to each college's website, or by emailing or writing to get on the college's mailing list. Almost 400 colleges now accept the Common Application, available online at www.commonapp.org. You must find out whether your college requires a supplementary application. It is your responsibility to research deadlines, entrance exam requirements.

Applying to PRIVATE colleges?

Plan to attend the "Workshop for All College-bound Seniors" during Support Period on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in the G-Building. Ask for letters of recommendation from your counselor NOW! The deadline to request letters of recommendation is Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007. Call the college to arrange a visit and/or an interview. File CSS Profile for financial aid (if required). This form is available from the College & Career Center or online at www.collegeboard.com. Plan to meet the college representatives in the College & Career Center when they visit Agoura (they may read your application). Dates of these visits will be online at www.ahschargers.com, posted outside the College & Career Center as well as reported during the daily announcements. Contact ACT (www.actstudent.org) and SAT (www.collegeboard.com) to order your test scores be sent to the colleges to which you are applying.

Applying to a UC or Cal State campus?

NO letters of recommendation OR interviews for UCs or CSUs (Cal States)! File applications online: For UCs=www.universityofcalifornia/apply; CSUs=www.csumentor.edu Be sure to attend the UC Application Workshop in A-1 during Support Period on Friday, Sept.21 and/or the Cal State Application Workshop in A-1 during Support Period on Friday, Sept. 28. Meet the UC and Cal State representatives in the College & Career Center when they visit Agoura (they may read your applications) Contact ACT (www.actstudent.org) or SAT (www.collegeboard.com) to order your test scores be sent to the UC and/or Cal State campuses to which you are applying.

Financial Aid

File for financial aid/scholarships at the same time you apply to each
college for admission.

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid after January 1, 2008,
for financial aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov and www.pin.ed.gov
